I laced-in a set of Mavic Module E's on mine, and it made a good ride into a stellar one. (Polished Sun M13-II's would be a good choice in a similar, but non-vintage rim for less scratch).
Definitely go long with the upgraded wheels . . . . . BUT . . . . . . complete wheels, and you keep the originals intact.
