What 1000k are you planning on riding?
Right now, I'm looking at the
Santa Fe-Herrington 1000k in late May.
It looks interesting and "doable".
But, it's got a few transportation issues I have yet
to solve - it starts in New Mexico and ends in Kansas. So, getting there with a bike and then getting home.....well, like I said. There are a couple issues....
