Yes, but we also know they can be more than a Toy they can be a tool. One big driving factor in the community I live in is construction. Roofers, carpenters, dry wall, framers, electricians, plumbers all make their living with trucks, PUs mostly to go to and from the job site. Moving closer to that job site doesn't work out either.

And in Victoria during the bushfire recovery process there was all of that, plus a whole lot of other people (office workers, engineers, etc. etc.) working on contract who had to drive to the jobs.
The area could not support people living in the area then, so a lot of people drove. And when you're on contract, you can use your vehicle as a business expense.
