i have a table next to mine. 1st time i rode them, i hung onto the table while spinning easy and then when i got the courage to, i put my hand on the bars. i admit, i had a helmet on. set it to resistance level 1 at first, it's easier if you're going a little faster, just like riding in a straight line outside is easier if you've got momentum. i have short legs so to get on the bike, i stand on the left side of the frame of the rollers, throw right leg over the bike onto the pedal, and start pedaling to get onto the saddle and clip in left foot. to get off, i unclip left foot, move the front wheel off of the front roller onto the floor and step over the handlebars.
i keep a small handtowel on the table, along with extra water bottles, remote controls, laptop, etc.
re: sweating all over them, my sweat drops on the floor and misses the rollers but i have a fan on and use my handtowel to wipe my head. I also wear wristbands to keep sweat from dripping down my arms.
