IMO, such concepts are the product of inexperienced college students, day dreamers with no financial responsibilities, or simple life ideologues; or quite possibly a combination of all three conditions.
I don't know how many people are able to work fewer hours because they don't have car expenses, but I would be surprised if I'm the only one in the free world. I can live comfortably with your opinion of me that I'm callow, irresponsible, and/or idealistic. I'm used to your habit of insulting me when you're losing an argument--in fact, it's one of the traits that I love about you.
Actually, I was under the impression--probably mistaken--that you yourself work part time, or at any rate only part of the time. Nicht wahr?
