You have to take the bike off the trainer and go outside. (oops, I see great minds think alike)

Seriously, this is most likely a frozen or rusted out freewheel (or freehub) who's pawls no longer engage. Sometimes these respond to a complete flushing of old dried grease, but if the pawls or the springs are rusted out they're toast.
