The Utility Basket is really quite large. I use mine primarily for shopping. It can handle heavy loads of milk soda and beer without a problem. The adjustable hook system allows me to adjust it out of the way of my large feet and keeps it very secure. It is a very large pannier capable of easily handling more than you could fit in a paper grocery bag. The newer model has a flap over the top which should make it mostly water proof. An optional rain cover would provide more protection. I don't use it for commuting because it is too big but if that is what you need the Utility Basket is a well built pannier.
