I agree completely. It's just that car vs car gives a little albeit false sense of safety/survival. I hate driving now too since my bubble has been popped.
To put this into context, I road raced motorcycles for ten years. I was crashed by others a few times but crashed on my own over 25 times at crazy speeds. I was a crazy and fearless person and never cared and mostly had only myself to blame for my injuries and had no problem with that. I have even been hit by two cars while on my motorcycle and was not phased. I expect that youth and not getting seriously injured had a lot to do with that. Now that I was hit out of the blue and nearly killed through zero fault of my own, it has affected me. I feel for people who get injured randomly because it really sucks and hurts and can have life changing ramifications for everyone around them.
My incident has changed the way I drive and even treat other people. I hope that everyone does not have to go through a trauma or accident to understand just how easy it is to kill and maim for the stupidest and most meaningless reasons like a bad driving decision or distraction.
Sorry for the A&S rant :-)
