You've been to Zurich... have you not had a Heineken on tap in Amsterdam then? It's not what you get over here in North America, it is better though it is still their "molson canadian, or budwiser or whatever is biggest in the US). I am pretty into what the craft beer industry is calling an IPA these days, but for a good pilsner or lager or Kolsch the craft brewers still cannot touch most local brewers in Germany, Poland, Czech, Austria etc... and I don't mean what you buy as an import over here, I mean over there in the town the brewery is located and on tap. Lots of of craft brewers attempt to make a Kolsch or a Bavarian Lager or European pilsner but they don't have centuries of perfected brewing under the purity law and with local grains and hops. As such they just don't measure up. The American industry is in it's infancy, some breweries will survive, some will fold or be bought by larger ones... there are good things on the horizon for the North American Craft Beer Market. It is burgeoning in the Cascadia region of Canada as well. BC is a hotbed of craft beer and Vancouver is exploding right now. Victoria has had a good craft beer culture going for many years.
