Are you bringing a bike with you ? In what part of town will you be staying ?
We also have B-Cycle bike share, now. And several places to rent different types of bicycles. What is your height and frame size ? May be able to ride out directly from my house on one of ours...
I am married w/ 4 kids. However, my wife and our kiddos can get all around town by bike.
And I can most likely twist off for a long exploratory ride and pints of local beers. Brainstorm list above.
Also consider riding bikes to catch some of our local music scene, here. Stay away from tourist districts and hang with the locals...

Bad news is I am committed for a bit of your window. Winter Solstice Party today and committed to wife's family on the 22 and 23.
I might be able to twist off a bit on the 24th, more likely on the 26th and 27th.
