a small update on the Olmo as this is my first C&V. After some research I see that my new toy is not top of the line but third from the top not that it matters as I am still very content with what I have. She has Aelle Columbus tubing that elegantly changes shape as the tubes come down to meet the BB. Additionally based on the brazed on FD bracket and decals that strongly resemble that of Bianchi in the early 80's I think my lady may also be a little newer than 78. I do have some questions for the group.
The Fiame rims are scratched pretty deep on the braking surface, like from a curb. I am looking at the Mavic Open Pro's however am concerned that it may be an issue for the Eroica races next year. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated which also leads into my next question of advantages of upgrading my GS hubs to SR or Record C?
Next is gearing. She has the beautifully engraved crankset with 53/42 sprockets so I would like to only play with the rear cassette for better climbing options. She currently has a 14-23 rear cassette so my question is what is the biggest cog I can swap the 24t for and/or what other factors must I take into consideration to work with the GS RD.
Thank you all in advance for the insight and inspiration.
