I loved my Burley rain pants, but they lost their waterproofness after 3 years. I found a reasonable replacement in Castelli rain pants. The zipper is on the side and there is no velcro ankle strap - but the lower leg is cut tight enough that the pants are as slim as the Burleys were. $90, when you can find them.
