I am in Sonoma county NorCal just (North of Marin county) It was kind of a fluke to find the two high end bikes in the trash. My buddy I got it from worked at the landfill for over 10 years and only found a hand full of really good bikes but tons of mid range bikes in the time he worked there, 99% of people drop them off at the recycle center they have at the dump so at least someone can put them to use but this guy was going to put it right i the landfill, mind boggling. I personally found a nice carbon / aluminum Vitus at the same dump and another friend sold me a great prewar schwinn ballon tire bike that someone threw into the metal bin at the same dump.
