When folks use the facilities, the streets…..multi-modal…
Can create a shift for the better in the public conscious…
An unused bike lane trains drivers to disregard the facilities altogether…Your neighborhood route is treated as a highway style arterial. Take it back. Use it the way you want to use it. Just pavement and paint, people and machines.
When the streets are used by people in different modes…peds, bikes, motorcycles, scooters, buses, light rail….the streets ARE for people. Not just cars.
If you don't like the bike lane, use when safe and convenient and take the lane when it's not…

Also, advocate for better cycling facilities, road diets, traffic calming, and reduction of the speed limit on highway style arterials to 30mph or less.
Very powerful in changing your society.
