Those fatties look pretty cool, and I bet they'd be a lot of fun for the right application. I would really question doing a South America tour on one, though, simply because of availability. What do you do if you need to buy a new tire in the middle of Bolivia? Most of the folks touring in places like that are on regular 26" tires and rims, which are almost universally available. They are usually the local tire of choice, and do the job under all but the most extreme conditions.
