The cover is really scratched up, there are some scratches on the pedal itself though due to grit on the cleat I'm sure I pick up while balancing on the right foot. Even the back of the pedal where it rotates to clip in is all scratched up.
I don't think that's anything to worry about as long as they still spin. My problem is the outer bearings fall out over time...
