We rib him constantly for it. He still loves us for some reason. We only make fun of triathletes because 1) they pee on their bikes and 2) we suck at running and swimming and are jealous. But in all reality, the shop decided as of roughly a year ago to go ahead and stop stocking tri-specific stuff and leave it to the speciality shops. There are more than there used to be and it isn't worth keeping up with when the other facets of our business are so strong. We still appreciate the customers who come to us for work on their tri-bikes, but I've never met a single mechanic in any shop who honestly enjoys working on tri-bikes. Maybe in a tri shop? Ironically, I enjoy them more than anyone, but only because they're engineering oddities.
EDIT: I generally make it a rule to not associate myself with my shop because I would rather the face of the business not be associated with a, currently, part time employee. So let it be known that I am a lowly hourly and my views and opinions do NOT represent the views and opinions of Bicycles Plus as a whole. They are a strong team of passionate cyclists who do what they love for a living and strive to succeed in customer service where most shops fail. The worst thing about finishing engineering school is that I won't get to work for them anymore.
I'm not jealous about the swimming abilities of tri-geeks.
