Haven't worn out the bearings, but I have had the teeth of the top pulley get worn thin from pushing the chain side to side when shifting (~10,000 miles). The thin teeth make the shifting a bit more sloppy. FWIW: Shimano top pulleys have axial float. In my experience, SRAM does not.
