the "kit" I was thinking of is called "Pedal Pal/ Hub Buddy" and I can't tell (yet) if that was something he made or what the company was who made it (if not his).
Came with a small drill and counter-sink plus some plugs/clips that allowed you to make any of your alloy shelled hubs or pedals into "Grease-guard" type units for in-place lube injection and "forced cleaning" using a pointed grease injector like the Dualco or the ones you screw a squeeze-tube into.
