Get a mini pump (if you get one with a hose it'll be much easier to use), patch kit, spare tubes and some kind of mini tool.
You can ride in the clothes you have to start with then you'll figure out what's comfortable for you. I like bike shorts for longer rides, but for just putzing around town anything is fine.
