Too many generalisations here.

Where I live rims have to be regularly replaced due to the wet and gritty conditions of the normal roads and again we do ride through the winter. It's just a fact of cycling life and accepted.

After cycling for over forty years it is just possible that I still don't know how to ride but I would find it a bit difficult to accept.

You must be a young fella.....right?
