T-Town Swap Meet: The Take.
The throat hurts, I'm coasting on 4.5 hours of sleep, I just sat in traffic for the past hour, and I probably have sun poisoning. So I'm not sure if this thread is interesting or not, but I know that my household is not going to share the same (if any) enthusiasm for my T-town swap meet finds as some of you might. For those of you that don't give a crap, stop reading. And for the future, these are the types of things that you might expect to find there. There was a TON of stuff, and it was a bit overwhelming. I'm pretty glad I went (though my wallet is not).
Everyone else that was there, tack on with your steals, deals, and whizzity wheels.
The take:
a) 2 Conti Sprinter tubular tires, 3 25gr. tubes of GommItalia glue --> $95
b) 2 Vittoria Competition tubular tyres --> $40
c) 1 new, un-used Sugino 75 49t chain ring --> $25
d) 1 very-used Suntour 45t chainring --> $5
e) 3 clincher inner tubes --> $5
f) 3 pairs socks ---> $10
g) all of the memories ---> priceless.
I am still sort of incredulous that I spent that much money on tires alone, but the Contis are "hand made in Germany", and as my man Lou Reed said on his depressing masterpiece of an LP Berlin, "it had to be that way." And Ceya thought it was a good idea, so whatever...
I am most proud of the Sugino chainring... it was my only real "find". Wangster got some better deals that he can tell you about.
I'm going to stare at my pile of treasure now.
