i heard in the past that sturmey archer products
were good up until the company ran in to problems in or around the 70s
and after that were much less good
until production moved to taiwan
and they are good again
this agrees with my experience of seeing loads of older sa equipped bikes still alive
but seldom seeing middle aged sa equipped bikes
but this could just be confirmation bias
