I've bought both the inexpensive Duro and Cheng tires off of Ebay, and the Duro tires are much heavier.

Also, on one training ride, I ran over a medium-sized rock that the ride leader didn't think was worth calling out, and the rear Duro tire blew out in the middle of the tread.
I noticed that the casing fabric was extremely coarse from looking at the inside of the tire, so no surprise that the casing didn't fare so well.

I've suffered a few thorn punctures on the Chengs, but the ride is so much nicer that it's worth it.

Another brand that I'll continue to avoid is LHR (Lin Hsin Rubber). A super-coarse casing weave and with exceptionally fast-wearing tread rubber.
