New Canuck
Just registered, and thought I should introduce myself. I'm a member of the 55+ group, living outside of Calgary, Alberta. We've got some great roads up here, and it just became time to start enjoying them.
I've done 8 marathons since I turned 50, and I decided to use cycling as a way to augment my present training. To that end, I took advantage of Lynskey's fall promotions to get a Sportive/Ultegra 6800, and built it late last year with my son (he's currently building bamboo/carbon fibre fat bike frames, but that's another story). It goes on its first shakedown ride tomorrow.
I've received a lot of good information from these forums, and I'll be happy to share what little I know.
I have a few things planned in the late spring (Jasper to Kamloops in May - about 450km), but riding for the time being is a little constrained. Despite the polar vortex and their -25 temperatures, the folks in the NE states were still warmer than we were :-). I guess it all gets down to what you get used to.
