I have SKS chromoplastic fenders. I don't remember which model. Peter White says the compound material gives you the advantages of both. Aluminum to keep the plastic from breaking, and plastic to keep the aluminum from bending. Also, the two sides are electrically separate, so you could use a fender as a two-wire cable if you're feeling DIY-y.
Have them on both my commuter and touring bike and I swear by them! They do an excellent job of keeping me ass dry
(and trust me, it's quite large
) and my touring bike has the power for the rear tail-light routed through the actual fender which keeps everything nice and neat.
Another plus is the fact that SKS has excellent after-sales service
(at least here in Europe), and when I needed a new set of plastic stubs which wedge the lighting cables, the company sent me two pairs free of charge, without requesting proof of warranty for the bike.
