Noticed that in the first couple of shots there was a good image of some women on a podium, but very few of women's cycling. Which brings me to two politically incorrect questions that I ask with true curiosity and not to sound like a jerk but the video made me think about.
1. Is women's cycling popular in the Asian regions, or is it relative to the population base and demographics?
2. Do people out there get the same kind of grief for buying generic carbon products as we do/are name brand carbon items or bikes cheaper there if manufactured there?
Coasting is right about the Asain fear of dark skin from the sun but this is changing.
Many more women ride casually but numbers of racers is very, very small.
Taiwanese don't buy generic carbon. They want the big flashy Euro brands. Launching a new brand here is next to impossible if it doesn't appear on the glossy pages of magazines. Every where you go you see high end Italian carbon with Record or Cervelos with DA and and the like and, of course, Giant, Giant, Giant.
Bikes are not cheaper here.
