When I say spread apart I sorta mean akin to the feeling of sitting on a normal wooden stall or something, kinda hard to explain.

Personally, I think saddle width is an entirely overrated parameter and much is made of it by the sellers (and purchasers) of saddles but what is really important is position. I suspect, strongly, that your saddle is too far rearward. This makes you skootch forward on the saddle where it is too narrow for comfort.
But that's the thing, it is comfortable when I sit towards the front of it.

How can we advise on something like saddle width without that?

I'm not quite sure what my taint is, but posting body dimensions on the internet doesn't bother me. From the point of view of basic measurements I'm about 5'11", ride a bike with a 55cm top tube with a 21mm setback post and I think around a 100mm stem although can't find a ruler to measure it.

I'll try moving my seat forward a bit more before my commute tomorrow and post back with how it feels.
