Worthwhile buy? Trek 750 Multi Track

I found a 90's vintage Trek 750 advertised for $125.00. I rode it today, and it still shifts flawlessly, brakes need adjustment but the adjustments at the levers seem to be frozen. The frame is not perfect, paint wise, but is otherwise straight and pretty lightweight. There is some rust on one of the rear rack bosses(I think the owner had a rack mounted on the bike) and a couple of pencil eraser sized surface rust spots on the top tube. It has STX componentry with Alivio brakes and hubs. The paint is a gun metal gray. From a fit standpoint, it is very similar to my road bike which I suppose is at least partially attributable to the 700cc wheels. Felt good though. Needs a saddle, but I expected that and I have some spares that will work. The tires are new and the wheels seemed true. Can anybody pinpoint the year this bike was made? Bikepedia has some information, but no recollection of this paint color that I can find. Is $125.00 too much? I really would like to start hitting the rail trails. Thoughts? Thanks.
