I use 700 x 35 Winter Marathons on my Trek Portland with fenders and they work great in my city of Toronto. I have never tried them in really deep snow as we haven't gotten any in two year but they work great on ice. Sometimes there is a little slip but the studs on the shoulders catch and you are fine. Most of my mile are on straight pavement without ice so I prefer this tire over one with more studs. I guess it all depends on the weather you get.
