Safety matter.

YellowBike and I were hit by a car in the spring of 2008. The fork required replacement.

I was concerned about a small hairline crack in the paint in the head tube emanating up from the lower headset cup. Everyone who examined it said, "crack in the paint, the aluminum's just fine". Four years and many several thousand miles later, the front end suddenly began feeling loose, like a loose headset. Yes, it really was crack in the aluminum head tube.

YellowBike was retired. Its frame hangs on the wall. I bought the Ribble Winter/Audax frame to replace it. Moved most of the components over, but the old fork was a 1" steerer, so I also bought a Deda carbon fork with fender eyelets. (I have a strong preference for aluminum frames and carbon forks on my commuters.)

I still have to sell the fork. Anybody looking for a deal on a gently used Wound Up Road Fork with 1" carbon steerer and fender eyelets?
