I owe you the longer answer since I did bring it up in your thread.

When you're watching video on YouTube or somewhere, it streams in either an .flv, an .mp4 or a .webm flash video format. Those are file extensions for the different formats. You can actually download these with a free browser plugin while you're watching them. I like to use the "Ant" brand plugin on my "Mozilla Firefox" browser.

Once I download them I convert them into a Video CD .mpg format which I then burn to a disk to watch them on TV. "Pazera" makes a separate converter for all three of the above formats (flv,mp4 and webm) with a Video CD option for converting them.

Not everybody is used to working with video but once you start playing with it, it can be a fun and economical way to collect video for the keeping.
