There she is with some new green tape and brown laminated toe straps. I'll look back and find my original thread from 3-1/2 years ago. I rode it in mostly original condition until recently. This 1977 model is slightly older than the seemingly more common versions that are completely chromed under the paint with the exposed lugs.

One of the difficulties that I hadn't foreseen (with this year, at least) is the lack of drilling on the front of the fork. Basically the only off-the-rack rack that will fit is the common-for-the-time Jim Blackburn style that wrapped around the back of the fork, where there's a hole that's been tapped for a phillips head screw. You can see that I had to do some weird stuff to mount my headlamp to the brazed-on post. I'm hesitant to drill through the fork crown, because it actually does look really, really sexy like that without anything mounted to it... I'm not sure if the slightly later varieties are drilled through or not.
