_dylan -- You may want to spend some time checking out the Alt Bikes section. They do some crazy cool stuff over there, much of which probably gives the C&V people fits.
I've been checking it out because I'm thinking of building up a cafe-racer style 3-speed rat bike, and there's a ton of creativity over there if you're looking for ideas.
