If this makes any sense, I could add another crank arm of about 780cm attached to another pivoting arm of 5cm with an extra pedal that would propel the third angle of the triangle. Considering your 2 legs are 2 pistons by Fred's standard you could just need to use a middle leg.
O.K. So you young guys may have a third piston. Now, if you could only find a way to effectively translate it's stored energy into something usefull.
