I assume you are asking about the granny ring as the two larger chainrings (50/39) are Shimano's OEM. Almost any chainring with the proper 74 mm bolt circle will work since granny rings don't have the enhanced teeth, pins, ramps, etc that larger middle and big rings do. I have four bikes, two with 50/39/26 FC 5703 cranks, and two with Ultegra FC 6503 52/42/26 cranks. I have a "Vuelta" granny chainring on one bike, an SR "Platinum on another and Suguino rings on two others. They all work so I assume the Salsa would too as long as it isn't made for a 1/8" chain.
