I dont know about better. The shimano has a wider platform, which some prefer. I had Ultegra pedals for about 2 years, then tried look pedals/cleats. I prefer the Look because I like how it the cleat feels when clipping in and out. I have heard some people say that Look cleats wear out faster, but I found it to be just the opposite. The Look cleats can be be very slippery when walking, unless you get the gripped ones. I purchased the gripped ones and loved them. After using look pedals, I'm bought a set of Exustar pedals which are ubber light and can use look cleats.
