There is a mountain I have to climb to reach my office. The right lane is the same as yours: straight/right-turn. However, I'm only going about 4 mph as I reach the intersection (the hill gets really steep for the last 100' as it comes to a crest). So I ride up on the sidewalk and avoid all of the cars. When the light turns green, I ride from the crosswalk and rejoin the traffic. If drivers wanting to make right turns in that only lane had to wait for me to go 4 mph, they would be pissed (I would be). So ride up on the sidewalk!
