Absolutely. My fat tire bike is the only bike I don't put them on. On my mtn bike I have reversible Shimano pedals (543?) that allow me to flip them and not use them if I'm riding on glare ice or something that may require dabbing at any moment. On a hybrid there isn't much reason to NOT use clipless spd since you can always just flip a reversible over and not bother going clipless at all. Best of both worlds.
