I just know having a good stable stand may make my life much easier.
i got my tools one at a time (budgetary constraints) and used them for several years with the bike turned upside down on the floor.
if you get a stand first you won't be able to fix the bikes since you don't have tools. it took a few years, but i finally got
the stand i wanted (park pcs-10) at a way affordable price on ebay and kept the bike up during that period.
best to you and post pics when you get whatever you choose first. btw, my mtb has ball bearings front and rear and i only got the
cone wrenches for my bike.
