Up here in Illinois we're close to breaking records for snow and low temps. We've received close to 50" of snow with more on the way. Biggest riding challenge out here in the country is the shrinking road. Many have been reduced to single lanes, with the medians packed with icy snow. The middle of the road, where tires don't tread, is also caked, so drivers are reluctant to move over. Hence, I also have been relegated to my (shudder) basement trainer.
On the plus side, the snowshoeing has been terrific. And I can't count how many hours I've spent dead-lifting all that snow off of my driveway and sidewalks. The pile at the foot of my property is now taller than the mailbox. I've never before considered riding the Horribly Hilly Hundreds, but with all of the snow-shovel squats, this could be the year.
