My commute week took a big hit with the winter storm that rolled through the Southeast yesterday. Like last week, the storm started on Tuesday afternoon and local forecasters blew the timing by quite a bit. In both cases, I could have biked to work but drove because forecasters predicted that snow/sleet would start in early to mid-afternoon, when the storms actually arrived much later. Forecasters predicted we would get 3-6" of snow, which is a lot for around here, but we ended up with about 2". Temperatures are still very cold and expected to drop to the single digits F tonight, so roads will be very icy tomorrow and I probably won't be able to even drive to work until late morning or afternoon. My biking is probably over for the work week and month of January due to threat of black ice.
