I am 800 miles from the dealer I purchased the bike from, and a good drive (with that car I don't have) to the nearest specialized dealer. It is just easier and probably in the end cheaper just to buy new wheels, but this just pisses me off.
Have you considered calling the LBS on the phone and arranging to send them the defective wheels by UPS? Surely the LBS will be willing to work with you to examine the wheels and fix or replace whatever is wrong with them.
