I picked up a 140 mm threadless stem that looks tolerable. I'll combine it with a threaded-to-threadless adapter and try to get an extra 4 cm of reach in my cockpit. Eventually I'll find some affordable Campagnolo 10-speed brifters and get them to work with the Mavic 7/8 speed drivetrain. The longer modern hoods will give me an additional 1-2 cm of reach. That should make this 52 cm frame work better for my 5' 11" height, short legs, and long torso.
Right now, I take this bike on 40-50 mile rides, usually with a lot of climbing and descending, and love the light weight and sharp handling, but but I feel cramped in the reach department. When I do a century, I currently take a different bike.
