I was looking at the Gamoh front rack and went with a Pickup Frame-Mounted front rack. I think they're made by Azor.

You attach the mount to your downtube. The two arms on the rack slip into the mount while the rack rests against the headtube. The rack slips in and out of the mount in seconds and you can slip a small lock through the end to keep it from walking away. Since it's frame-mounted, the rack doesn't move when you turn the wheel so the load doesn't shift as you steer. I've only ridden twice with it (only had it a week) and nothing heavier than my laptop, Kindle, and lock, but it seems pretty stable and it solves your quick-release problem.

I got mine at a LBS on Court Street in Brooklyn for significantly less than I'd seen it on the web. I also had a quote to have one sent over from Holland and it was still $20-$40 less than I saw on the web. Go figure.
