He did ride it allegedly, but abruptly parted it out and sold all the pieces separately. Maybe I'm too cynical but to me that's a big red flag.
Regarding the D/T shifters, while I have no idea about those carbon ones if you compare Shimano 105 brifters to 105 aero brake levers the difference is about 250 grams, minus 80 or so that the downtube shifters weigh. so it's quite a bit of weight saved.
