Computers are much better at doing stuff that's actually computational, like asking you quantitative and logical questions to calculate your tax refund, where all the rules have been made up by people.

Ever since I started riding, I found it easy to just learn hands on. Buying cogs with less or more teeth depending on what I needed then punching in the numbers to find out what the gear ratio is. After a few weeks of trying I knew what I liked and what I needed depending on if we're getting snow and what not. I never found problems understanding gear ratios. Knowing that more teeth = easier to spin, less teeth = harder to pedal is half the battle.
