I'm not trying to defend the shop or the brand but what they are telling you may indeed be true. Here's why;

The way manufacturing works is that the frames are produced, painted and delivered to the assembly factory to be built and boxed. They are then shipped out to distributors and then to shops. This so pretty much where we are in the cycle at this point.

After that is done, the factory sends out warranty stock to the various distributors or warranty centers world wide. There is a lag between full bike production and shipment and the filling in of warranty stock as most brands hang onto stock until all bike production is completed to make sure those are taken care of first. The remaining products are then shipped out as warranty stock.

The local distributor is probably giving your local LBS a delivery date based on this information.

Not all brands function EXACTLY like this but most run close enough to this that what your LBS is telling you may indeed be true.
