For what you described, your choices are way overbuilt. They are very nice, but you don't need 2 inch tires. We ride dirt roads and gravel paths and for my wife & daughter I got them Jamis Coda's. We got my wife's for $499 and my daughter found a local leftover at the LBS for $360! You can run 35's maybe even wider. Steel frame, flat bar, triple and decent gearing.
