I do completely get why someone would want an e-bike for convenience, commuting, grocery shopping, meeting friends at the coffee shop, etc. Pretty much the same reasons I like to ride my human-powered bike.

But I also can see why in a forum dedicated to road biking --- where there are regular discussions about power, heart rate, training regimens, food, hill climbing technique, etc. --- that some people might put down or make fun of e-bikes. I take pride in using my own legs and lungs to get someplace. To make light of e-bikes on a commuter forum or similar would not make sense. To put them down on the road forum I have no problem.
